Earl King - New Orleans Guitar/Songwriting Legend
by Ric Stewart
The late Earl King was a legend of The New Orleans Music Scene from the 1950's up to his untimely passing in 2003. The world would just not be the same without King classics such as "Trick Bag", Mardi Gras favorite "Big Chief", or "Come On Pts. 1&2" - covered by the likes of Robert Palmer, Professor Longhair and Jimi Hendrix respectively. In this 1996 interview/performance Earl comments on his relationship with the younger Hendrix then known as Jimmy James. Many imitators around the world never quite figured out Earl's beguiling style "...people say to me: Earl what in the devil were you playin on that thing THERE?"
