Ric Stewart is a DJ, award-winning filmmaker, interviewer and music historian. Mr. Stewart has a 4-decade history as a storyteller preserving the heritage of roots music as a radio host and programmer at WAIF, Cincinnati, KALX, Berkeley and WTUL New Orleans.
1. Soul Country He launched Soul Country in 2019 as a radio format rounding up Stax, Muscle Shoals and Delta sounds with rockabilly, outlaw, country blues and a bumper crop of contemporary “outside of Nashville” Americana sounds. The Soul Country podcast continues this “Americana with a Groove” focus. It launched in February of 2022 featuring in-depth talk/play with roots music icons: Bobby Rush, Chris Thomas King, Ivan Neville and Charlie McCoy and up-and-coming artists. Its origin story documentary, Blues Rock Hits Soul Country, taps decades of exclusive video interview/performances from legends (Allen Toussaint, Earl King, Tony Joe White, John Oates, Peter Case and more). An interactive music museum under Blues Center brand In 2022, Ric Stewart directed and narrated a 28-minute documentary Blues Rock Hits Soul Country pulling together decades of exclusive clips. The documentary now as over 110,000 views.
